Hello everyone. I have been part of this group for a few months now

and have posted a few times but mainly I am just a reader. However,

I am having a very difficult time and need some advise/ people with

the same experience. I had open RNY on July 6th. I am feeling great

and down 35 pounds so far but I have one problem. One week after

surgery, I developed an infection and they had to open the bottom of

the incision and put in a drain tube, no problem. The puss came out,

they put me on antibiotics and I went to the doc this past Friday to

have everything taken out. He removed all the staples except three

on the top of the open wound and said to come back in 2 weeks. Over

the weekend, the top of my incision opened also. So back to the doc

I went yesterday where he told me there is a " pocket " of fluid above

the opening and I have to shove this betadine gauze in there. They

did it for me there and told me to do it once a day after my shower.

This morning, I get up, take a shower and as I am shoving the gauze

in the hole above the opening, it breaks open the skin above it and

the gauze comes out. I cannot get ahold of my surgeon togay because

he is in surgery all day Tuesdays. I know I am fine and it will

probably involve another trip to the office tomorrow but I am

getting so tired of this. I am still in " uneasy: " feeling. Not pain

but I am sick of being sick. I want to start feeling better. I can

still only make it around the block when I walk and I am not used to

this. I am a quick healer and this is really getting me down. I

still do not regret the surgery. I know that I will be ok. I just

wanted to know if anyone else had anything like this happen and how

long it finally took for everything to be normal. I really have a

great surgeon. His creditials are awesome. I just want to be better.

Thank you for letting me ramble on. Anyhelp will be appreciated and

if you'd like, you can always email me. Thanks again, TIna
