Hi Judy, Sorry to hear you've had such a time of it, but glad you

vented and decided to go to your regular doctor. Hopefully the

antibiotics will help get rid of the fullness in the ears and

infection. I had to go to my regular doctor to get a blood

transfusion. Sometimes we need our regular doctors, too.

Sorry to hear you may have to be wired for 8-12 weeks. My surgeon

had told me he could do the surgery without orthodontics, but in my

case after having braces as teenager and not wearing retainer, my

teeth had shifted and wanted to fix that too. Also, the surgeon

thought that possibly with orthodontics I might not need Lefort I.

As it was even with orthodontics I still needed Lefort.

I'm not sure how far they moved your jaws, but that may be the

reason for being wired longer. Since I had braces I didn't needed a

splint, but had been told if anything went wrong I might be wired.

Luckily everything went ok. I know that they moved my upper 5mm and

lower 13mm. Do you know how far they moved your lower jaw? I think

that because of large lower jaw movement my surgeon still doesn't

want me chewing yet. I have to wait another 2 weeks at least. With

sleep apnea I think we get fairly large jaw movements which means

that probably they don't want to risk too much stress on the jaws

too early. Hope that made some sense.

I also see my OS in Aug 3 (one day short of 6 weeks).

Hang in there. We're thinking of you. Hugs,

Shirley
