We go to Dr. Kerri in Felton, CA. Her phone number is 831-335-9300.

We've also seen an osteopath, Marc Rosen, a couple times. He is in

Portola Valley.

A few people mentioned seeing a chiropractor - most specifically

related to improving ear symmetry. What is this treatment like?

Can anyone recommend a pediatric chiropractor in the San Francisco Bay

Area?

THANKS!!

Here's a link to find a pediatric chiropractor in your area:

http://www.icpa4kids.com/locator/index.htm

My chiropractor works mostly on the spine and by adjusting the head to sit correctly on the spine. She says that this mostly influences the base of the skull in terms of head shape. Others have mentioned that the skull base is what influences ear symmetry.

There are several types of chiropractic and I don't know all of them. In fact, I know very little other than what I have learned in the past few months. I'm just a lay person who has looked up some things and asked our chiro some questions. On the older plagio group, they talk about "activator" chiro, but I've learned that the activator is just a tool that is used to ensure that the adjustments are very mild. A pediatric chiropractor also knows how to use hand manipulation very lightly to ensure that the adjustment is not too hard for the bodies of our little ones. My daughter was able to continue playing right through her adjustments. The chiro tried using the activator, but didn't like it so she now just uses her hand. During the first month or so, 's head always moved back out of alignment in between appointments. Now, it sometimes stays in place.

One more thing, our chiropractor did not have experience treating plagio, but said that the treatment for was based upon what they saw on her spinal scan. She treated the areas of misalignment rather than any particular symptoms. It just happens to be that the areas of misalignment were areas that were related to the head (almost all of the C spine) and digestive tract ( also has reflux and GI food allergies). So, after 's scan, the chiro felt fairly certain that this was a chiropractic case.

Her 2nd scan was done 2 months later and everything but 2 out of the 6 C areas had totally cleared up. One of the areas not totally cleared up is C1, which is at the top of the spine where the head sits so we still have work to do there. But, we are doing a trial to get off of her Prevacid and so far she has done wonderfully. We will be down to a 50 percent dose this week. So far, she's showing absolutely no signs of reflux trouble. I know this doesn't related to the head, but it does give me confidence in the theory behind chiropractic. I do see visual improvement in the head as well, but I'm not sure whether some recent hand measurements that showed significant improvement were measurement error or actually real. One of the things that I see the most improvement in are her ears. They appear to have flattened out against her head and the bulge around her ears is also flatter against her head. If this is influenced by the skull base and chiropractic influences this first, then that may be why I see the improvement there. Take a look at this recent progress picture. To me, her ears look improved. The first picture was taken in July and the second was taken about a week ago.

Hopefully, Kathy will answer with her chiropractic experience. Her chiropractor works directly on 's head rather than just doing adjustments. It's supposed more like a massage.
