Guest guest
The following is from a file in the OSSG-Protein group. This is a great group for info and ideas on protein, as well as some general information files. A " Protein Feast " is usually 3 or 4 days in which you drink from 5-7 protein shakes a day (along with your post-op vitamins and supplements). If you really feel the need to eat, you can have a protein meal such as meat, fish, eggs etc. For wls post-ops the protein shakes are usually low carb/low sugar pre-digested whey, mixed with water and not milk. The goal is to eliminate the carbs and sugars from your diet (and the subsequent carb cravings) in order to give your metabolism a jump-start so that you can break your plateau and lose a few pounds. It is very similar to the 'Induction phase' of the Atkins diet. Barbara Jean B12 and Protein (a bit long) > I have been following both these threads and have found the information helpful. I do have a few questions though. How does it feel to have very low B12? I had bloodwork done and mine was very low and my Dr. recommended shots. I had a very strong reaction to the second one (in two days) and have had to get 1/2 doses every other day. I have a history of depression and have been arguing with an ugly episode, looking back the downward slide started June/July. I have seen a Psy. and am taking different meds and more therapy. I have read about the symptoms, but what does it really feell like? Could my depression be related? > > My second question, deep breath, is about Protein. My carb intake has been up and down/in and out of control and I have read here that a protein fast is a good way to break the cycle. What is the suggested menu/number of shakes/grams of protein to do this? How long do I do only shakes (which I like!, no choices). > > Thank you in advance. > > Kim in VA > RNY w/gallbladder removal > 3/2000 > 270/185-5 > > > Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG > > Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe > > > > >
