Guest guest
Dear Rita, that is very helpful. Iw as just looking at my hair and skin today, really in bad shape even though i'm up from .175 to .200. Have to pick up cytpmel tomorrow at grocery store. it is 50mcg. My body tem has been ka-pooey since surgery. I have to put heat at 79 degrees to feel adequately warm. I didn't know that was a sign of thyroid probs. I have a test in about 6 weeks, so we will see. thank you all for your thoughts, this is an interesting discussion. love, ceep In a message dated 9/12/03 12:11:16 PM, Graduate-OSSG writes: << Subject: Re: who takes cytomel? I take both synthroid and cytomel I take 15 mcgs cytomel and 250 mcgs of synthroid. I have been told it is a very high dose for someone who has lost as much wt as I have and I still have my thyroid. I have done a bit of research concerning the rny and hypothyroidism. Seems like folks with the rny have continued symptoms of hypothyroidism even if the labs are normal. THere has been cases where rnys need to be dosed slightly hyperthyroid to get to feeling normal. I started having issues like constantly cold hands and feet, dry skin, brittle hair and nails, tired all the time, wt gain (ACK!!) and it was shown that even though the labs were coming in okay, my symptoms rather than the labs needed to be treated. I am working with my Endocrinologist on this but it takes time since it takes about 3 months for the effects of a dosage change to really start showing. Guest guest
" my symptoms rather than the labs needed to be treated " This is very interesting regarding the thyroid. My problem is depression which had been successfully treated, but the meds are now not working as well. My new shrink is adding a med called Provigil. It is used to treat Narcolepsy, which is an illness that has people falling asleep in the middle of anything they are doing. I had an afternoon appointment and he said I appear to be very sleepy (I just called it depressed). It seems that this med aides the antidepressant for people like me. So far, so good. I guess they are starting to look and listen, huh.
