Guest guest
Please forgive me for cross posting this message. I need some thoughts here. I had a breast lift on Sept 23rd. They are beautiful I might add....well the shape is. Two days after coming home, I developed a fever. I called the doctor and was told to go in. Everything looked fine and I was put on antibiotics just in case. This was on Thursday. I was to go back on Tuesday to be checked out. All seemed great. That afternoon my skin on the right nipple kinda got yucky. I called again but only wanted to know if I should let it be or retape it. I was told to rest it a day or two and then use the tape again. Then this past Monday night after my shower, I was changing the tape. The right breast was oozing rust colored liquid and was forming small holes in the incision at the center and bottom. I called the next day, knowing I was to go back Thursday to have the stitches removed. The doctor got me right in, cleaned it up and took out my stitches. I told him my nipple was very tender and hard under the nipple. I was told I have mild necrosis. He said it would take just a bit longer to heal. He and his staff have been very helpful and caring. He told me to call if anything bothered me. If not come back in 3 months. Now today, my breast had sharp shooting pains under the nipple on one side. Tonight as I was getting undressed, I saw how damp the tape was. I touched it lightly and pus started coming out. Yuck, yuck, yuck! Then I took the tape off since it was covered yucky. The skin on my nipple is looking like more area is dying off. The area that was hurting has a slit where the stuff came out and isn't so hard anymore. The rest of the nipple area still aches and is hard. I started to cry cause I didn't want to see it or touch it. I wanted to run to the doctor AGAIN and get them to do it for me. It was so nasty. Well I cleaned up and it does look better. My husband wasn't home when the fun part was going on. He thinks it looks better now, since some of the black is gone. His opinion is that it should be better now that it drained. I don't want to be a big baby, but I am afraid not to go back to the doc. Please, if anyone has dealt with this, please let me know. Thanks so much for listening....I feel like such a wuss. Dawn
Guest guest
Dawn I can't help you, sorry but I would not hesitate for a second to go back, again and again if necessary. It's their job. You are the consumer (even if insurance pays for it - you pay into insurance, etc), you have every right to get this rectified. If it takes 10 times, so be it, you don't want to have something go wrong or have any regrets. I hope you get better soon. p.s. the worst the dr. can say is " it's getting better, etc " . Good luck! Guest guest
Dawn, I'm with everyone else, go back to your doctor and keep going back until you are okay both physically and mentally.
