Guest guest
Kate, I'm 5'9 " ...yup, big shoulders, which don't look so awful when I'm thin. Now that I'm breastfeeding my breasts are like, gargantuan! I don't know if you can really tell from the photo. I really need to strengthen my shoulders, arm and back because with lifting my daughter (18# at 6 months, she's an amazon) and breastfeeding I'm getting all hunched over. I was such a " body " person when I was younger--really into dance and sports. I was shaken to the core when I saw these photos---not just because I see an out-of-shape, over- weight person, but someone who looks, well, slovenly. I want to look so much more sparkly and pulled together--I'm not only looking for a challenge, I'm looking for an extreme makeover. We bought a very good scale and I'm officially 167.5...not for my bodyfat. do you have calipers? what brand and where did you get them? all the best,
Guest guest
Hey , Sorry, I have no idea what kind of Tanita it was - I just stood on it and it gave a printout. The trainer said it wasn't as accurate as calipers but as it gave the same measurement for me as the calipers I wasn't too worried about it. When I finish my first challenge I'll use it again and the calipers as well - if they are different, I'll believe the calipers! Kate Re: Re: 's photos Kate, I know this message was to , but I wanted to ask you which kind of Tanita you have? Mine measures about 5-8% high depending on how hydrated I am....so does my mom's and girlfriend's. We all spent about $100-150 on ours and it was a waste of money considering how inaccurate they are. My calipers are MUCH more reliable...and MUCH cheaper...teehee! M.
Guest guest
Ok Kate, you've got yourself a challenge partner. I'm a grand old 37 years old, you will probably have great results because your metabolism is probably quicker than mine by 12 years. Did you take your measurements--it really helps to do that? I'll post mine tonight and we can compare that way too. I'm afraid to test bodyfat--I'm afraid that it might be close to 30...I'm in an odd situation though, I know some of this fat/weight is pregnancy/breastfeeding related, but I don't know how to factor it in. You're right, the challenge makeover things IS interesting...it's cool to hear that your taking more of an interest in how you present yourself---that is exactly what I was talking about. I get mad at my DH because he's sort of sloppy, but the truth is is that I'm exactly that sloppy too---and I don't consider myself a sloppy person. As a matter of fact, it makes me really angry that my mother is very slovenly and doesn't take care of her appearance at all. I made an appointment to get my hair cut and colored this weekend because I want to see a nice visual difference in 4 weeks, even if I'm not yet the slender, buff goddess I aspire to be. I want to look happy, tan, pretty and pulled together by week four. I guess I have body image goals as well as fitness goals---this is great!!! I really needed it. My DH and I started BFL on monday, right? Tuesday night my dh makes me cut his hair. Last night he shaved a lot of his body hair---he's already on the neat-and-tidy track too, after only one day!!! It's incredible how a little tiny investment into your self care (45 minutes of exercise) can lead to all those changes. You're giving yourself a great birthday present by starting the challenge. My dh turns 33 next month and I told him the same thing this morning. I said you're going to feel so happy when you turn 33 that you're on a good track. When is your birthday? My dh's is July 11th. I was nice and slender until I turned 30 or so, and then I started to put on weight. Up until that time I worked on my feet as a pastry chef, so I was constantly moving all day and weight was not a problem. When I started to do web work I found myself sitting in front of a computer all day and well, the pounds began to creep on. Because I've always been slender, I was in total denial, I never thought of myself as a bigger person or someone who would look great if they'd just lose 15 or 20 pounds. It was really a revelation to see that picture of me. Kate, honestly, I AM NOT THAT PERSON. I'm a really fit and athletic, slender, happy, charming, stylish and funky! Really I am, I swear. I just have to leave some of this flub behind so that person can come out of hibernation. I can't wait to see your photos. have a great week...I really pushed my cardio this morning and did much better than Tuesday. all the best,
Guest guest
Hey , I did take measurements, however they're in centimetres so I will have to translate them before I post. In ten minutes I'm driving up to Christchurch (about 5 hours north) for the weekend and I won't be back until Sunday. This is my first real 'challenge' in terms of finding BFL food etc as I will be eating at restaurants all weekend - I'm looking forward to seeing how well I do. I'll definitely post those measurements for you on Monday. Kate P.S. Birthday: 27th July Re: 's photos Ok Kate, you've got yourself a challenge partner. Guest guest
Hi Tasha I just looked at the boys pics... So cute.. I think your son looks a little like my Evan... Not , but ... Enjoy the new playgym... they'll love it. I can sympathize with the outside thing, my daughter and Evan love to be out and it's like pulling teeth to come in sometimes.... Like Aekta said, atleast it will be a good nap day when they've played outside... I just dread the HOT weather in the cast/brace... take care Tasha Fontenot wrote: Thanks Aekta. LOVED his cake. Guest guest
Hi , This is so bad, but there are times it is so hard to get them in I use chocolate or cookies to do the trick. Last summer(July)he had just got his 1st cast. They were younger and didn't really know about outside. This summer I will have issues. They are SO aware of being outside. And yes I am not looking forward to the HOT days. Tasha wrote: Hi Tasha I just looked at the boys pics... So cute.. I think your son looks a little like my Evan... Not , but ... Guest guest
, First things first... is one handsome guy! Precious!! Love the read hair and those huge blue eyes. While it is a bit tricky to really see the flatness on the right side with his hair dry and full, I can see the pronouncement on the left back, the slope of the forehead from middle towards left ear and the fullness on the front right. Cade had a very similar shape...plagio only, no brachy. Thad mentioned that little "bump" over the left ear. Cade had that, as well, on the same side. CT described that to us a while back and I don't remember the scientific explanation but they used the example of the bones in that area being like car doors and when everything shifts from the plagio it's almost like the doors swing open. That's such a non-scientific explanation...but all I remember to describe what we were seeing! Anyway, 's left side looks quite similar to Cade's left side, in that the area of pronouncement/fullness starts at that "bump" on the left and goes toward the back middle (and the left forehead slopes to that "bump"). And on the right side, the pronouncement and fullness is in front of the ear (front of ear to middle of forehead). You might try to get a few top-view pictures while he's in the tub or when you can slick his down, so the back right is easier to see. We are getting ready to graduate from band #2 (probably Friday) and Cade still has that "bump" on the left side. It's much, much less pronounced than when we started. I have to wet his hair down to see it and I'm not sure the untrained eye would notice it at all. It's actually more like an odd angle now, rather than a bump. But I've been watching this so closely for months that I can see - even with all the filling out in the right places - his head shape is slightly pronounced on the back left and front right. Not even close to where we started...but not perfectly symmetrical either. And that's OK. The bands have done their job, for sure, and we're thrilled with the results and don't have a single regret about banding. We've seen tremendous results from both bands. Don't know what 's experience will be - they're all unique - but thought I'd share what we've seen with Cade.
