Guest guest
Tracie, I've been reading the posts regarding symptoms of low temperature and blood pressure and considering how opposite that is of my symptoms. I don't have an issue with my normal body temperature that I'm aware of, however my BP is all over the board. So while doing some research on that I discovered that it could be linked to my adrenal glands. It looks like what you're describing could be as well. Just thought I'd throw that out there, as there are some simple tests, that I'm going to pursue, that can be done to determine if that's the case. Also regarding my previous post on the question regarding dairy products, I think I've finally figured out the answer on that as well. It probably has to do with all of the things I questioned in my post...but also the calcium. Though someone told me that broccoli, which is one of the " recommended " foods, was also high in calcium, so I'm not 100% sure on that. But in combination, I'm assuming that I need to go easy on dairy and pick no/low fat products. So far I have not had an issue with Vit D...knock on wood...and they're checking my calcium levels. Anyway, let me know your thoughts when you feel up to it. Deb Z. Michigan
Guest guest
Deb, You're right-- it is probably adrenal dysfunction. When you're on pred-- or have been, then your adrenals have been shut down. Normally our adrenals produce about 15mg of cortisol daily. If you end up taking more than that-- (I was on 80mg a day, took 2 1/2 yrs to wean off, then back on it 5yrs later starting at 60mg-- plus a lifetime of pred and solu-medrol every time I got a respiratory or sinus infection) then your adrenals stop producing cortisol. Since cortisol is our bodies own pain killer-- as well as the hormone necessary for heart rate, body temp, and one of the signals for the other hormones to do what they do-- you have to wean off- or the entire endocrine cycle suffers. As far as the Vit D thing-- please read Dr. Sharma's info on this issue. There is one charlatton (sp) that would like to tell us he's found the magic answer-- to all autoimmune diseases. His theories have been proven incorrect. In our ARCHIVES AND LINKS-- you can find all kinds of info on this -- just search by Vit D, Trevor Marshall protocol, Calcium and sarcoidosis-- you'll have more info that you want! This protocol is one we won't discuss on this forum-- and several other sites also refuse to get into the debate on this protocol. Years on antibiotics is not the answer. I know alot of us are sensitive to being out in the sun for very long-- and yet without it, your body can't assimilate the Vit D it needs. Anytime you put your body into a deficit of any vitamin or nutrient-- the body goes into starvation mode-- and creates ways to store up what it thinks it will need. Vit D is essential so that you don't suffer from depression-- so even a few minutes each day makes a huge difference. Even in winter, just getting out and looking skyward manages to help this serious issue. Don't get me wrong-- I'm not saying take extra D-- I'm saying allow your body to get what it needs in the only way this vitamin is activated. The problem with dairy is that our bodies were not made to digest cow's milk. The lactose creates inflammation. Dairy also is a huge producer of mucus-- so our body sends out the white cells to counteract the mucus- and now you have an increase of white cells-- the inflammation starter! As far as brocolli being high in calcium-- it's a great way to get the calcium you need-- without the effects of dairy. It's also rich in magnesium, and without magnesium,-- calcium cannot be absorbed. Calcium/magnesium is also a great anti-inflammatory, and a wonderful muscle relaxant! Plaquenil is excellant for quick lowering of hypercalcemia, caluria.
