Guest guest Posted May 17, 2005 Report Share Posted May 17, 2005 There are a lot of encouraging stories here on this site. I think there has only been 1 post about a month ago from someone who said that they regretted having the surgery. Other than that, everyone has been very positive even when we are having our bad days. Having this surgery is a very personal decision, and think that most of us would make the same decision to do it again if necessary. Myself, it is too soon for me to know the end result (3 weeks post op), but I am happy with every thing so far. > I was just wondering if anyone was in my boat...I am considering > having surgery next month. Guest guest Posted May 17, 2005 Report Share Posted May 17, 2005 If I might add a thought... you know the saying, " misery loves company " - well, I've been thinking about that. This group is a fantastic resource full of wonderful people who care, and who know that if they are having problems they are more than welcome to ask, vent, cry or complain. While some of us have yet to have surgery, there are those who have already been through it and are either in need of support or have tons of support to give. What about those who have had the surgery and have had no problems... they don't need support, or an ear to vent... they probably have gotten on with their lives and are putting this behind them because it didn't become as big of a glitch in their life afterall. What I think I'm trying to get at is this... take heart in the number of success stories shared on this site, but also be comforted with the thought that there are even hundreds more success stories that are silently passing this phase of life! I know I'm more comfortable with my decision after having joined this group... even (and especially) after experiencing stories such as the despair Jane has suffered through and come out on top of - with a big and absolutely gorgeous smile! Guest guest Posted May 18, 2005 Report Share Posted May 18, 2005 tell us more. there are a ton os encouraging stories written on here daily, but there are probably more specific connections you can make with others just by sharing your circumstances. for example. . i vibe well with those who sought the surgical process as a way to alleviate my awareness of social pressures and standards. for me, it was all mental, well . not all. . but my focus was on my mental states. good luck

& nbsp;

derrick

& gt;From: & quot;greatsubletopp & quot; & lt;greatsubletopp@... & gt;
& gt;Reply-To: orthognathicsurgerysupport
& gt;To: orthognathicsurgerysupport
& gt;Subject: [Orthognathic Surgery Support ] new patient
& gt;Date: Tue, 17 May 2005 22:48:23 -0000
& gt;
& gt;I was just wondering if anyone was in my boat...I am considering
& gt;having surgery next month.
