Iron infusions questions

My iron is 8.4. The dr said I may need one or two iron infusions

(instead of many small) after he sees what my latest blood work has

to say. How long does one of these kinds of infusions take? Is it

out patient or dr. office? Any side effects such as severe

constipation? I take it from someone else's post that the benifits

are not felt right away? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the " big " infusions. I had one and got my levels back up.

You sit in a chair, they start an IV and drip in a tiny amount to see if you

tolerate it, then up it gradually to make sure it's still okay. My whole

experience took about 5 hours as I recall and I won't have to go back for

several years. I had the tiniest side effect which was a little clamminess

for the rest of the day, but it was almost imperceptible. It doesn't go

through the digestive tract so no black poop, constipation or any of those

things. My benefits were felt starting within a day.
