Jac..

What a nice story. I'm sure you made that 'old man's' day!!! I hope he

comes back too. I was very close to my grandmother and I lost her about 4 years

ago and also miss her very much!!

Cindy, Be careful of your 'snacks'. A detour bar with a cup of decaf

tea...you should not be eating and drinking at the same time and remember that

detour

bars (although delicious) are high in carbs and calories. I can only imagine

how frustrating it must be to have had the surgery with your husband and be

wathcing him melt at a much faster rate than you. I remember when my husband

and I would decide to 'watch' ourselves on a diet before I had surgery and I

would struggle harder than him and at the end of the week he would be down 10

pounds and i would be down 2. I guess this is a fact of life and there is

nothing we can do about it. I do have a suggestion...why don't you stay off the

scale. You know that you are losing pounds and inches. If you don't weigh

yourself but every month-month and a half. When enayone asks the two of you

what

your weight loss is...You can honstly answer that you are not sure.. " Last time

I weighed my self I was down 52 pounds but that was a month ago " . It might

make you fell better than stating the numbers.

had his open RNY at least two years ago or so. was a

pretty big guy, around 600 pounds I believe. The doctor had given instructions

that a minimum of four (I think, maybe three?) nurses assist him when he tried

to stand. Two nurses decided that they couldn't wait for reinforcements and

insisted that they could do the job alone. Well, got up, lost his

balance, and the nurses dropped him. His incision burst open. He developed a

serious infection and was hospitalized for a several months afterwards.

He had a hernia repair last year and a panniculectomy. He may have

still had some wound healing issues from his original RNY (I'm not sure). The

panniculectomy went well, but he developed a very serious wound infection with

the hernia repair. He was again hospitalized long term, and then later

attempting to heal and close the wound at home.

Not too long back, he went in to have surgery to completely remove the

infected mesh and to revise his RNY to a distal. He has had wound

complications from that as well, I believe.

The last I heard he is still hospitalized here in Houston.
