hi everyone......i had my surgery on july 19 and it was a little

tougher than expected. i had some breathing issues in the recovery

room and wasn't taken to a room until 8ish that night. everything

proceeded on plan from then on. i did well with walking and liquids

for the first few days, then on thurs night ( i was scheduled to go

home fri) i started running a temp. that no one could really figure

out, so the surgeon took me back off liquids and i basically had to

start all over again. i finally got to come home this tues. after

spending 8 days in the hospital. things are going ok, howver a

little slower than i had hoped. i am still on liquids and still

running fevers at night. my incision is draining daily and i have to

change the dressing at least twice a day sometimes more. my surgeon

isn't concerned about this, so i'm not really worried either. i see

him again on tues afternoon and i'm hoping that he'll move me to

soft/pureed foods then. i am also being treated for pneumonia. the

doc. didn't order an xray but because of my breathing issues and the

fact that i had to stay on oxygen for the 1st 4-5 days in the

hospital, he has me on antibiotic for now. although i'm not having

breathing problems now i do have some pain when i inhale so i'm

thinking pneumonia is a definite possibility.

well, that's what's up so far. kim, sorry to hear about the problems

you had, but am glad that all turned out well and that you are

feeling better. i'm a little down only because things aren't moving

as fast as i'd hoped, but i keep telling myself everyone is

different and it will get better for me.
