First, I didn't have one. And I am so sorry that it's causing you

pain. Also so sorry to report that such is not unusual. Often the

graft site is more painful than the jaw, because the jaw is numb.

The jaws are numb... Whatever.

The good news is that you will get over it. But like everything

else, it takes a lot of patience. And as many painkillers as you

need. Sorry for the bad news part of it.

Just keep thinking that you've done something to help your body

along the path.

Best,

C.

Hi ,

I can certainly relate to you. 25 years ago when I had my jaw done I also

had a bone graft from my hip and guess what????...the only real pain I can

still remember was my hip! It really hurt, a lot more than my jaw ever did..

so you're not alone. In fact, the only scar I have is on my hip and it's

still pretty big. As they all say...it will pass.

All best with your healing,

-- bone graft?

So I'm looking for anyone out there who's had a bone graft taken from

their hip. I'm wondering how long this thing is going to feel sore -

and how best to take care of it. I've been trying to walk around (I

read that helps) but today I think I might have walked too far -

'cause it really started hurting. I also still have the surgical

dressing on it - the resident had said to keep it on as long as

possible, that it was water proof and would fall off by itself. It's

been a week now, and it doesn't look like it's moving. I'll try to

call god tomorrow - but I doubt he'll be around. sigh. He does have

great hair, though :o)
