Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I'm on antibiotics now trying to clear up a sinus infection and an ear infection (in both ears, but my left ear is more infected and in pain than the right one). I'm not exactly sure how I got the infections, but I'm assuming that it's from all the work I had done during my surgery last month (Lefort 1 upper and lower advancement, plus Genioplasty to move my chin forward, plus surgery to correct a deviated septum, plus impacted wisdom tooth removal, plus the back of my upper palate expanded). I had a lot done, and I swelled up very badly (my skin was stretched to it's limits I think). I had a lot of drainage after surgery, and because the Eustachian tubes are so close to the back of the nose and throat area, I'm pretty sure the drainage just got backed up and then caused the infections. It's been miserable, but the antibiotics have started to take away the sinus infection, so I'm not quite as miserable. But, it hasnt' started helping with my ear infections yet, and I'll be 5 weeks post op tomorrow, so this is really irritating to me at this point. I knew going into this whole deal that it was going to be major surgery with all I needed done...and I was willing to accept and deal with the pain and discomfort after surgery. Here comes the BUT part of it though...I assumed that I would be farther along in recovery - and without all these complications that I'm having now. I certainly didn't expect these infections to happen. I have followed my doctors instructions to the letter, but still ended up with problems. Not much I can do about it now, except deal with each one and try to figure out what needs to be done about them. By the way - please accept my late 'welcome' to the group. Sorry I didn't do it sooner, but hopefully it's better late than not at all :-) Take care! Judy How is everybody getting all these infections?
