Hi Cammie,

I still have my good days and bad days but then again, I am only 3

weeks post-op and I was told to expect more like a 6-8 week recovery

time. Yesterday was bad but today I feel much better. I actually

slept for 5 straight hours this morning so I feel like a new person!

Beau took the girls to my sister's for the day so I've had the house

to myself. I've been lazy all day and even let the toys stay

scattered all over place. The pain has been much better today.

Woohoo!

No, I haven't tried Neurontin yet. My surgeon did prescribe it for

me because he said after all these surgeries, the nerves are more

sensitive and somewhat damaged so I'm liable to feel more pain than

others might. I've been a little leery to try it even though it's

supposed to be an excellent medication for neuropathies. It does

tend to cause drowsiness. Since I'm going back to work this week, I

don't want to start any meds that might make my drowsy. He did have

me on Elavil as well. In addition to being an antidepressant, Elavil

also alters one's perception of pain. It did seem to help but was

making me really drowsy so I quit that. Now I'm just taking Motrin

and Tylenol during the day and a small dose of hydrocodone and

zanaflex (a muscle relaxant) at bedtime. I'll have to stop those by

Tuesday as well so everything is out of my system by the time I go

back to work Thursday night. I'll get through it. I always have

before.

And I fully agree - Crab soup is the best med of all. Yum!
