Guest guest
Hi all, Just got back from my OS appt. We did all those fun x-rays, molds, measurements with those things in the ears etc...All in all not bad. He went over the procedure and stated at this point he is not sure if I will have the splint after surgery or not. He also doesn't know if I will be banded or not. He stated the surgery will be about a 4 hour surgery. He will wait until during surgery to decide if the jaw will have to segmented. Not sure why the heck he is not sure being only 13 days out from surgery, but I trust him 100% to make the correct decision. My guess is that he was going to perform another mock surgery on the molds he took today to make his final decisions. He did state I would be able to talk right away after surgery with or without the splint. Of course I know the truth on that one from all you post opers. Anyway, he informed me that he would call me if any more measurements needed to be taken. Other than that he informed me that I would see him on the 28th. Sara, I can see what you mean by the OS and OD not talking to each other. When I talked to my OD yesterday he sounded positive that the OS was going to tilt the jaw back and segment the upper jaw in 3 pieces and bring the front four teeth over the bottom teeth along with widening the back 2 segments of the upper jaw. He also stated I would surely have a splint and be banded after surgery. So heck if I know what is really going on. Anyway, I think I am going to take a nap and get all of this off my mind for an hour or so! Talk to you later,
