Guest guest
Hey , Help is right here. Go to the " Files " in the column to the left of this message. Look down the list for " Pouch Rules for Dummies " . It will help you deal with your plateau and also help you understand how to use your " tool " for a long time to come. Also, take the cottage cheese test to find our exactly how big your pouch is now. Here it is: Purchase a container of small curd low-fat cottage cheese. Begin the test with a full container, and perform the test in the morning before eating anything else (this will be your breakfast on that day). Eat fairly quickly until you feel full (less than five minutes). Note that the small soft curds do not require much chewing. The idea with the rapid eating is to fill the pouch before there is much time for food to flow out of it. After eating your " fill " of cottage cheese, you will be left with a partially eaten container that has empty space where cottage cheese used to be. Start with a measured amount of water (16 ounces, for example), and pour water into the container of cottage cheese until the water is level with the original top level of the cottage cheese. Voila - the amount of water poured into the container is the functional size of the pouch. Good luck, keep us posted. A simple walk can be nice especially if the weather is nice. It is great here right now and perfect for walks. Buy a pedometer and wear it all day and see how many steps you take a day. Then try to up those number of steps. Make a game out of it. We just bought some exercise types. We got Tae Bo for the both of us and I got a couple for myself. I got the belly dancing workout and a latin dance workout. I thought those would be fun! I plan on doing one tonight. What about hiking? Are there any nice parks near you that have trails? We have quite a few around here and that can be quite nice. What about biking? Do you own a bike? Perhaps investing in one would be a good idea. Even if you haven't been on one in quite a while, why not try it again! Good luck, Kathy fiance Rich open RNY 8/5/04 - down 43 lbs (17 days)
Guest guest
You may just be on your first plateau and will need to wait it out. Continue to exercise and eat right and follow the pouch rules and you will be successful. As for the being hungry and wanting to snack thing...Do this! EAT! But eat correctly. Eat protein. Stay away from sugar and carbs as much as possible. If you really want to beat that snack attack drink a protein shake 3 times a day. This will help fill you up and lose weight more quickly. Also...try to eat protein snacks. I ate food or drank a protein shake every 3 hours for the first 6 months post-op. I ate all kinds of protein snacks and drank protein drinks which kept me full and satisfied. I still am doing this most of the time but am losing more slowly now and need to pick up on the exercise or will never lose much more weight. Try walking. That is outdoors and you can bring some music along or a friend and just walk walk walk. So great for the body! Keep up the good work and know that there will be times when you just need to have a little patience as long as you are doing all the right things.
