Guest guest
Hey, I like the icy more than creamy (if it's both) so could you post your coconut ice cream recipe please? thanks, Debbie 41 cd And the bacteria will be killed off but not all. It can survive being frozen a lot more than being cooked which kills everything. Does anyone know if you get any of the beneficial bacteria from frozen yogurt when you digest it? I assume there must be some, as you can keep the yogurt starter in the freezer. I dripped the yogurt before putting in the ice cream maker with homemade cherry syrup (cooked cherries & honey) and toasted pecans and it was awesome. Also, I made coconut ice cream for the first time yesterday, and it was pretty icy vs. creamy. Any good recipes out there for coconut ice cream? Should I be trying to find a " coconut cream " in the store instead? Or is there a way to rehydrate dried coconut and make into a cream for ice cream? Thanks!SCD 6 weeks
Guest guest
Hey, I like the icy more than creamy (if it's both) so could you post your coconut ice cream recipe please?I made this one last night - only I didn't have quite enough raspberries, so I added in somefresh cherries and a banana as well. Only added 1/2 cup of honey, but I could have evenused less - like 1/3 cup (everyone's taste varies on this and it also depends on the sweetnessof the fruit you are using of course and I had added in a banana). And also - and I knew this butjust ignored it at the time - the texture would have been better without the raspberry seeds - which requires an onerous extra step of blending and then squishing them through a fine sieve. http://heal-balance-live.blogspot.com/2009/08/recipe-review-raspberry-coconut-milk.htmlElana has this one made with raw cashews which sounds good - as always substitute outagave nectar and use honey:http://www.elanaspantry.com/vegan-vanilla-ice-cream/and a coconut milk strawberry:http://www.elanaspantry.com/strawberry-vanilla-bean-ice-cream/ thanks,Debbie 41 cd Also, I made coconut ice cream for the first time yesterday, and it was pretty icy vs. creamy. For coconut milk it is often 3:2 or 2:1 of water to shredded coconut. If you want a really creamy ice cream,go for 1:1 - or something similar. Guest guest
Mara - thanks for sharing those recipe links - they look awesome. Debbie - I just threw together my recipe: 1 can coconut milk, 3/4 cup dripped yogurt, 2 cups cooked boysenberries, 1/3 cup honey. But it turned out icy, compared to when I just used dripped yogurt & no coconut milk. Thanks! 6 weeks SCD > > > > > > > Hey, I like the icy more than creamy (if it's both) so could you post your coconut ice cream recipe please? > > I made this one last night - only I didn't have quite enough raspberries, so I added in some > fresh cherries and a banana as well.
