Suzanne,

Another idea might be this. My acupuncturist told me one time that

for vomiting they will put whatever remedy (herbal, I assume, and likely

a tincture) on a cotton ball and place in the navel. Apparently

absorption is very quick from there. So this might be another thing

to try if sniffing doesn't do the trick.

i had heard this too about prevacid which led us to wean her from it

on our own. her dr. said they have kids on it for years!! we have started

her back on it for now. hopefully, like you suggest, if we start back on

the diet at some point we can get her off it then.

just wanted to add that i decided to try peppermint oil for

" sniffing " instead of digesting...and it HELPS!! :))) my

husband who is in law enforcement said that agents use it under their

nose to keep from vomiting when going into bad smelling scenes. we put

some on a cotton ball and place in a small med. cup that she will hold

under her nose at times. it doesn't take it all away...but definitely

reduces the severity of it!

thanks again to you all for the many suggestions and

concerns!!

Hi Suzanne,

Just an FYI, my daughter was on Prevacid for acid reflux (she also has UC). It

gave her terrible migranes. It's actually a common side effect with children.

She is on Nexium now and is doing much better. So if she starts getting

headaches, tell the doctor pronto!
