Guest guest
Thanks, Deb! Different folks have talked about ways to improve our nutrition. We haven't given it enough attention, although many of us have become convinced that it's an extremely important factor. Hopefully, this will begin a dialogue on healthy eating! Kat sent me info on a cookbook targeted for sarkies. I wish we could see a sample recipe before actually buying it. For those who are interested, here is the info. This author is associated with the Aden protocol, which seems to be very similar to the Standard Process that Tracie is using. My only concern is one of their websites claimed to be able to reverse lung damage caused by sarc. That's a red flag for me, but I'll admit that I haven't thoroughly researched the protocol. If anyone is familiar with the Aden protocol, would you give us some input--good or bad? Dear Kat, after 7 months of intense work on something very special, I am proud to write this email and inform you that finally, I have published the first Cookbook ever dedicated solely to sarcoidosis sufferers. Presenting: Sarcoidosis Freedom Cookbook You can read all about it here: www.sarcoidosis-cookbook.com What is Sarcoidosis Freedom Cookbook? It is a 143 page ebook with hundreds of delicious recipes designed to avoid all the aggravating chemicals that lurk all around us. I started working on it in March this year. I did it because so many people were saying the same things about the Aden Protocol and sarcoidosis remission - they were saying that it is too hard to organize their lives to undertake such a complex task as eating for sarcoidosis remission. They were dazzled and confused by so many rules and things to keep in mind. So I decided to take all that away. Now, you don't have to worry about planning and endless hours of research and full time work on the right meals. This ebook will allow you to live life normally and still be proactive about your condition. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. I've been waiting to hear how Tracie was doing and it sounds like she's doing wonderfully well!!! I've often wondered why this group doesn't discuss diet more as a means of reducing symptoms...then I think maybe I'm one of the lucky ones and just don't have Sarc as bad as most. But I can tell you that sweeteners...especially the artificial ones are terrible for me. Also red meat is a huge trigger of depression...I think maybe the uric acid??? I try to eat more veggies. I limit my meat consumption to fish or chicken. I do eat eggs and dairy in moderation. I rarely eat grains...maybe one - two slices of all natural whole grain bread per week. I try to get food that is organic or as chemical free as possible. Are my Sarc symptoms gone? Like Tracie...no, but they are better if I eat right. Do I cheat on my diet? Yes, but in very small amounts and never two days in a row. So my thoughts on the subject for those that don't want to do the whole detox thing....at least start taking at look at what you're eating. As we have said before, every body is different--reacts to disease & disorder differently, and responds to drugs & other treatments differently. We all have to learn as much as we can about the various options & then choose our path. We need to have doctors & other health care providers who are willing to be open to alternative treatments & supportive of our choices. In a perfect world, we would all have such providers. But since it's not a perfect world, we'll have to do the best we can in trying to find that support. > > > > We are not recommending that all of you stop your meds & go with a totally wholistic lifestyle. Tracie has been through just about everything a sarc patient can, and it would not be right for us to withhold this information about a program that has worked very well for her. This program requires total commitment, and I'm not ready myself to make that commitment. But I am now aware of this option & probably will explore & learn more about it. This is what we need to do with ALL of our options. It's very difficult when we are tired, depressed, in pain & can't think straight. It's so much easier to just leave the decisions to our doctors. But since we have to live with the outcomes, we really need to learn as much as we can about every treatment, including alternative treatment options. We may need an advocate to help us--a friend or family member who is willing to take on that responsibility. Guest guest
Thanks Rose, I did that and one came up for me, about 30 mins away, I'm going to call them, my husband is urging me to check into it, He knows how much Tracie has helped us, and I keep him informed of her, when she was really sick, he would ask me about her, so now that she is off the meds and doing so much better, he has been urging me to do the same. I wouldn't mind getting off some of these meds. I'm having more increase lower GI problems after my Remicade for a few days. So I will call this ONE person who should up. Thanks for this information, sometimes I go to websites and just look lost? How are you feeling these days? MarlaJust one day at a time, That's all God ask of us. for there never really is a tomorrow, as that too is just today:) Did you go to the website she suggested & look for a provider? When I did that, 5 names popped up within 20 mi. of me; 4 chiropractors & one RN. This is how I did it: WWW.STANDARDPROCESS.COM Go to patient info-- and select get a referral. MarlaJust one day at a time, That's all God ask of us. for there never really is a tomorrow, as that too is just today:) Thanks, Deb! If its full of chemicals, it probably isn't helping your condition. Just my two cents worth. > > Glad you're doing better Tracie! Thanks for the update!!!> > Deb Z.> Michigan> > > > > >> > > > Tracie, thanks for explaining the process that you have been undergoing. As usual, you expressed it well. Final decisions should still be ours, but an advocate can help to gather the information needed for those decisions. > > > > > > Ramblin' Rose> > Moderator> > > > A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
Marla, I'm glad there is someone from SP nearby; hope you get some help there. I'm okay; still have a slight cough & occasional wheezing, but much better. I have 8 more days on the Pred (down to 20 for 4 days, then 10) & still on the antibiotic, so I'm hoping it will clear up completely. I'll still have the shortness of breath from the sarc, but that doesn't cause near as much trouble for me (at least it doesn't make me pee on myself!). I'm really tired & hot right now from making a new place for the catfood. I've had it up on a stool surrounded by a fence with a small hole for the cats. That has worked fine for the bigger dogs, but Crazy Abby is small enough to get in there & sometimes she can reach the food. When she does, she pigs out! If I used a taller stand, like a tv table, Abby can't reach it, but neither can Sugar the kitten. So I finally thought of a solution--took a board tall enough to reach one of my wooden tv tables, covered it with carpet that was in the attic & attached it to the table with a corner brace. Now Sugar can zip right up that carpet just like she goes up the cat tower, but Abby's out of luck! I'm proud of myself, but worn out. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine.
