Hi all, Today I saw the OD. I was surprised when yesterday my OS

asked my if I'd seen the OD yet. He said I was ready to see the

OD. I had thought it would 6-8 weeks after surgery. I'm still

waiting for OS to give the OK to chew. Two more weeks he said. I

think because of the large movement of my lower jaw, he doesn't want

the stress on the jaw until the full 6 weeks.

The OD changed the location of my rubber bands, which I still have

to wear all day except for cleaning my teeth or eating. They also

removed my surgical hooks on lower teeth (yeah) and put O rings on

the lower brackets. I have one upper bracket that's loose, but he

said they won't replace until my next visit in 4 weeks.

I asked them how much longer would I be in braces. He said probably

8-12 mos. Oh, well, it's not the 18 mos. they were talking about

when I started. Hopefully it will go faster. However, they still

need to upright my back molar which slopes down towards tongue. A

result of the teeth not meeting properly for so many years. Also,

they still have to move the top midline more to right, and bring

down the teeth on right side some. So I guess it will take a while

and lots more rubber bands, too.

I sure found out I have a some very sore (painful to pressure) spots

when they started pushing on lips and gums! Guess the numbness is

definitely starting to fade!!

Good Morning Shirley,

Thanks for the update on your OD appt. I know what you mean about

those pressure spots which surely can be rather painful. Maybe it's

a good thing I will not be going back to my OD until another 4 to 6

weeks..(haha) I am sure I have about another year or so in braces

also, which like you is not anywhere near the 18 months I was told in

the beginning..(haha) Oh well, it will be worth it when it is all

said and done and we will have big beautiful smiles for all this hard

work we are going through now!!

Hang in there & keep up the good work!
