Guest guest
Maggi, I asked the same question at clinic b/c I thought food might get stuck there He said that from peristalsis (movement in the intestinal wall) it would automatically not. Well, yes, you will be seeing what you have seen up to now when on g & c. The bad things I saw in my son were: endless tantruming, keeping from eating (unless he would get what he wanted: G & C),extremely hyper, and so on on this matter. ) When he has an infraction, he will go " up the walls " and will never sleep, giggles like crazy and wakes up at night etc. I think overall he'd drink more too, but that's not a thing really, I believe. Also his stools started looking different, and did not get better right away but worsen; then all went back to normal. I have heard of kids searching for G & C in other things, like dog food (pretty desperate); it's like for a drug addicted to try and find a way to get " stoned " out of lighter fluid in those " bic " lighters or the gas from the hair spray. Of course, your son will not look for drugs, just G & C containing foods; so read labels carefully, and always doubt yourself twice when you find something he really likes, at least in the beginning. *** > Second - > > How will taking all gluten and casien out of the diet help sleep? At least way before sleep times for my > daughter. Doesn't seem to affect my son. *** You took away milk, so you took away calcium. Calcium is a big " soporifer " (sp?); so you need to supplement that. Calcium, Magnesium, Folic acid, Zinc, are all great help for hyperactivity. if you start any supplement, space them two to three weeks apart to be able to confront results before and after the use of a specific supplement. We did melatonin too for seven weeks, and we still supplemeted so that worked fine for us. But my son has a problem with highly phenolic foods, so I cut those out after lunchtime, and that helps in the evening (giggling and hyper has bettered and melatonin started working). *** > Third (sorta off the subject)- > > Does anyone know if g/c allergies can look like childhood diabetes? > Excessive thirst, bed wetting, moodiness, zoning (recent onset - > coincides with new preschool)? Just > curious if anyone has any input or thoughts. *** I am not sure of the connection between diabetes and ASD or GFCF diet. But I always thought of being dehydrated for his first two yrs of life before the dx, b/c he would never ask for anything. Now he drinks a lot. the problem with that is if he drinks but not urinate aenough; than that's abad symptom, b/c he takes in liquids, but the liquids don't come out: tho, you should also notice water retention in that case. My understanding is, that soy is under study (or so) because it showed as having the same amount of peptides that G & C have, thus the same effects on the ASD brain. We try to avoid soy, tho we have not eliminated it completely. Hope this is of some help. ) Cristina-WA Proud mom to 4.9 yo ASD, & 2.1 yo NT twins. ***

My son will twirl sticks in front of his eyes and have the giggles all day long. This does not occur when I use enzymes with infractions. For my family, food allergies cause thirst, moodiness, and zoning out. Mostly the high phenol foods from the link above. Dana

Guest guest
Hi Judy, You do need to make a reservation at the Guest Residence. I made mine for the day I was told I would be out of the hospital. I was not released that day, but my husband went there and stayed that night anyway instead of where he had been staying. I was only going to stay for a couple days and had to extend it a few more, and there was no problem. There were very easy to work with. I don't know anything about private rooms at the hospital. I shared a room. Sheri Lap/open DS 9/28/01 Dr Herron/Mr Sinai/NYC -39 lbs
Guest guest
Hi, Judy. I'm doing the whole Sinai Hospital/Guest Residence experience as I type. The private room at Sinai is worth every cent of the $300.00 per day extra charge. Not only that, but TV and phone activation are FREE in private rooms! <smirk> The hospital will make you pay for the private room nights BEFORE you are admitted to the room. Yes, pay with cash, check, or credit card UP FRONT. If you still want the private room, call the admissions department at the hospital to find out how to reserve it. I never made an advance reservation for my private room last week. The day of my surgery (last Tuesday) I was put into a room with a woman who was (thankfully) not there until the next morning. But when she came, she made a LOT of moaning and noise, and her daughter was in and out and in and out and kept looking at me, and so on. At that point I got my private room for the next couple nights. This worked well not only because of the disturbance factor, but also because hubby could have a cot in the room right next to my hospital bed. He stayed with me the entire time I was in the hospital. He showered there, too, and the nurses brought him delicious (NOT!) hospital food. Make reservations as far in advance as possible at the Guest Residence. You have to give them 48 hours cancellation notice, although the manager, Albert, might be flexible considering surgery days and all. Since my original plan was to have hubby stay at the Residence while I was in the hospital, I was double paying for the two nights that he was with me in the hospital cot. Oh well. Didn't work out so badly, I guess, because I brought a lot of shit with me and hubby was able to go back and forth from the Residence to the hospital. Haven't tried the Newton since the Residence is so close to the hospital. Your mom should stay at the Guest Residence while you're in the hospital, and then when you're discharged you can move right into that room with her, if you are planning to stay in town for the recommended week's worth of time to see your doctor post-op. Best, > I have a surgery date of January 16th at Mt. Sinai. I have a few questions. > I asked for a private room but forgot to ask how much that will cost me out > of pocket. Does anyone know? Guest guest
, The private room in the hospital was $300.00 per night? How much was it per night at the Guest Residence? Judy
Guest guest
Hey, Judy. Basic rooms with one double bed are 155.00; two double beds, 175.00; then there are suites with stoves for around 200.00 and up. All rooms, however, have kitchenettes: microwave, coffee maker, toaster, small refrigerator/freezer. This is the coolest thing about staying at this place, especially after surgery. And, for Manhattan, you can't beat the price. Best, > , > > The private room in the hospital was $300.00 per night?
