Guest guest
It will get easier. I didn't have an appetite in the beginning either. But I had to force myself to eat the protein whether I was hungry or not. Getting your protein in is very very important. If you have to put up with the gas for awhile, it might be worth it. You can take Gas-X for that...lol. Good luck and take care. Laurette 4/23/04 open rny 309/290/239/
Guest guest
Unfortunately you very likely won't have an appetite for a while. Make it part of your daily schedule to eat. My doctor has be eating 6 1 ounce meals a day and I am 3 weeks out with out hunger. I mix up protein drink with extra unflavored protein so each cups comes out to 5 grams each. Which gives me 30 grams of protein a day. I kinda like the no hungries, kinda hope they stay a while, that we I will learn to eat to live faster. anne > Hello everyone, I just would like to know how can I get my protein > in as I need because I am never hungry all I want to do is drink, > drink, drink, and the only protein I find here is in milk form and > my doctor say milk will keep me gased up don't want that. Guest guest
You will regain your appetite soon enough. Just for now try to get as much protein as you can in and when the samples come make sure you use them and then order the one(s) you like right away and make it a daily habit to drink 3 shakes. Protein you might be able to keep down includes very soft cooked eggs, tofu, cheese, (try string cheese or that canned cheese?) pureed meats and fish and peanut butter. Our bodies can only absorb 30 gms of protein at a time I believe it is, so always keep that in mind. Things will get better. You are still only 2 weeks out. My goodness give yourself time to heal and be patient with yourself. It will all work out for you if you are drinking plenty of water, eating appropriately, and exercising! Also if you are following all the pouch rules you will be much better off. Milk is very gassy for us in the beginning and many of us find we are lactose intolerant after this surgery for some reason. So be careful!
