Guest guest
> I know it can be tricky to self diagnose - but I get this incredible pain in my left side, lower than the rib cage, across from the belly button. It will also radiate towards the back. It comes and goes, and it the worst when I eat the wrong thing (like tomatoes or orange juice - both I obviously stay away from now) > > I have been to doctor just recently [again] and all my bloodwork looks normal. He ended up perscribing me with muscle relaxers & pain pills, as he thinks it's muscle related. I totally disagree. > > I think I have a really sensative spot in my intestines that is getting irritated at times, and maybe I have an ulcer or a torn up spot that is trying to heal, but experiences major set backs if I consume a food I can't yet tolerate. This pain was pretty severe before starting the diet 9 weeks ago, and now comes and goes. It's also way worse if I am experiencing any bloating or gas (like when I have eaten raw apples, I now stay away from those too). > > Anyone out there with a diagnosed ulcer, who can share if they have felt a similar pain. I don't currently have medical insurance, so I can't afford to pay out of pocket costs for ultrasounds, etc. Although, three years ago I when I had bunch of tests done & first went gluten free, all they could find to explain the pain was an ovarian cyst, which I thought would have created pain in a lower region and not so high up. > > I appreciate any comments, but understand if this question is a shot in the dark. Are you taking epsom baths for that? It might be a big help. Also, I'm not sure what IBD/IBS your diagnosis is, but it could be that LDN would help a lot with that. My diagnosis three years ago was " Irritable Bowl Syndrome " After the whole run around with Medical Doctor, GI Doctor & OBGYN, and no real conclusion as to what was causing all my horrible bloating, pain & diarrhea. I went to the internet, tried a few parasite cleanses (huge help) and went gluten/dairy free (another big help), but then this past year, symptoms got worse again, and I found SCD. Guest guest
I was experiencing discomfort/pressure in my left side, just below my rib cage. It was bothersome enough that I was trying to figure out what it could be. I did a lot of reading on the internet and found a lot of people saying they had pain or pressure in that area. One did say she had something wrong with an ovary, but the vast majority of people said they had spent a lot of money on tests and no answer was found. I went to the doctor about it. They did blood work, which was all fine. He said that people with " problems like mine " (which I assume means digestive problems) often have this kind of complaint and no answer is found to explain it. He wasn't concerned about it. For other reasons, I just had a colonoscopy and EGD, both normal. I still have that feeling at times, though not as uncomfortable as before SCD, but no answers about it. Certainly what you have going on could be completely different, but thought I would share my experience in case any of it is helpful. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for writing - you know, a few months back, I googled " left side pain " , and saw tons of posts too, from folks that also went to doctors and never got a diagnosis. I have to agree, it's getting a bit better since starting SCD. It just hits me so hard each time I introduce a new foods which I don't tolerate - tomatoes (ouch!), coffee (no more!), raw apples (hurt too). I am starting to see a trend, but when it hits, wow it hurts and stays around for a day or two! Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I also had normal bloodwork when I went to the doctor about it recently, and he ruled out kidneys too. Thanks! Guest guest
Hmmm...how about your pancreas? Since the pain radiates to your back, that could potentially be where your problem lies. Kim M. is the expert in pancreas issues, hopefully she'll give her opinion :-).
