Guest guest
hello, i am a nanny of 7 mo old triplets, adjusted age about 5 1/2 mos. baby A is getting the helmet for his flat spot. baby C is going to physical therapy for torticollis, and we think that baby A may have had this as well, looking back when on his tummy and learning to lift his head, he always leaned over to one side. he is the biggest, so maybe his head was harder for him to lift than the others as well. he is currently not tilting his head anymore, but the flat spot is pretty evident. the neuro said its not severe, and that most babies get the helmet at this point with it being as bad as he has it b/c moms feel guilty. MB (mom boss) does feel really guilty, but we did lots of repositioning, and he still got the spot. her insurance is covering it, so shes going to go ahead and do it. the neuro said he should only use for 3 mos. he will wear it for 23 hrs a day, basically only off for baths. they said it will take a couple weeks for him to get used to it, esp to sleep in it. im looking forward to hearing your stories and learning more about this and how we can help him. Guest guest
Welcome ! The mommy guilt is inevitable (I think we've all been there), but try not to let it get you down. Your son is at an optimal age for banding! I'm sure you'll get wonderful correction in good time. Be glad that you and/or the pediatrician caught it early on. There are SO many great resources on this site, from all the helpful posters in the forum to the many files and databases and past threads. I think that finding this group last Fall is what turned around my whole attitude about the band from tears to action! Be sure to post if you have questions or need information--people here are so kind and helpful. Mom to , DOCband 12/29/09 to 3/29/10 > > Hi everyone! > > I'm so excited to have found this group. We just got referral from our pediatrician to have our 4.5 month old son fitted for a helmet for positional plagiocephaly. I'm going through some serious mommy guilt right now and some support from people who have gone/are going through the same thing might help to lift my spirits a bit! > > Hope to get to know you all soon > > >
