Guest guest
Shelly, I am sorry to say I won't be a littermate, because I won't be able to have the MGB until January. I wish you the best of luck and I will be very interested in your progress. I have a BMI of 60 also. I realize we are all different, but I think I will be able to relate more to you than our " skinny " friends whose BMI's are under 50. Guest guest
Alana, My emotions went wild also before and after surgery. I spent a lot of time by myself because I was so depressed and didnt want anybody to see how emotional I was. Guest guest
I have a scheduled date for gastric bypass surgery on Sept. 30th. The closer the date gets, the more terrified I am. I suppose this is normal??? I find myself thinking of all the negatives instead of the positives. I'd enjoy hearing from those of you who have " been there, done that " already. Maybe some of you can calm my fears. Thanks!
Guest guest
My girlfriend here in Atlanta is having her surgery that day as well . Congratulations, everything will be great and we'll all be wishing you the very best. It is very normal to be nervous. If you've done your home work and picked the best doctor for you then there's nothing to worry about. You'll get lots of great advise and support here. Welcome to the group! Guest guest
I completely understand because my date is set for Sept 21st and each and every day it gets closer, the more nervous/excited I get. Anyone else getting the whole *crying* at the drop of a hat??? For some reason, I cry so easily recently. Guest guest
i had my surgery Aug 18-04 and i went in that morning and they put in an iv and that is really the last thing i remembered until i woke up in my room,,i was up and walking in a few hours and i was walking at a great pace and would make 5 rounds around the floor and then go back to bed and watch TV.. now i might have been an exception to the ease of the walking because i do alot of walking at my job and it seemed that the others were having a much harder time getting around then me.. but i have healed up really good and have not had much pain , they did give me a pain med for home i use it at night it helps me sleep.. the itching is bad but i have really dry skin to start with ... Guest guest
I had surgery and the worst part was taking a shower at night, covering myself with betadine lotion and trying to sleep. Loved it they gave me the bottle then told me to have a good nights sleep - yeah right I felt like a lint roller. The rest was surprisingly easy, yes there is some pain and discomfort, but they give you drugs for that. I was up walking a few hours after the surgery - not 5 laps around but at least two. I came home 3.5 days after the surgery and wanted to go back to work 2 weeks later, but the doctor made me wait until the 3rd week. Occasssionally I get very tired in the afternoon and take a nap, but that is not common. You will do well. anne > I have a scheduled date for gastric bypass surgery on Sept. 30th. > The closer the date gets, the more terrified I am. I suppose this is > normal??? Guest guest
Hi Diane & Sandy and others in November, My surgery is November 30 at the Cleveland Clinic. My hooks go in sometime around Nov 15 or 16. (I get the appointment later today.) My preop molds, etc are the week of Thanksgiving. I'm so excited! I've been studying this surgery for over a year and now I'm psyched to do it! Best to you all, Sue
