Guest guest
Debbie I’m not Marilyn, but I live east of New Orleans in coastal Alabama. The fishing and seafood industry in our area (and it is, or was, extensive) has shut down because of the oil impacting our bays, marshes, beaches. Salt-water fishing, shrimping, etc. has been prohibited in most areas, except for a few research scientists. Fresh-water fishing has also been impacted. Some of the local seafood stores are still open, but they’re shipping in frozen or fresh from elsewhere. Probably is the same in your area. Our waterways haven’t been as badly impacted as southern-most Louisiana, but it is still bad enough to shut down our seafood and fishing activities. We’re not sure when it may resume, since the oil will be coming ashore for months even after the well is capped. We don’t know when the seafood that is caught, whenever that is allowed to resume, will test as safe from toxicities. So it may be months. I’ve gone back to buying frozen wild-caught fish from the Pacific or Atlantic. No more locally-caught fish. [big sigh] Kim M. SCD 6 years >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Are you having problems finding crawfish, catfish, shrimp, etc.? Maybe it's the season but it's not *everywhere* like usual. I haven't found catfish at all this week. Just wonder if they had a run on it or if it is because of the Gulf problems. Debbie 41 cd
