Guest guest
I recently have been feeling pretty bad. The doctor said it was a bowel infection and gave me 500mg of Levaquin for seven days. Lots of nausea and just really really bad. Anyone have experience with this? I know I harp a lot on iron supplements and it's written that's the reason not to take supplements if it can be helped. I have to go get my blood checked next week and I know they'll say more iron. They always do. Any ideas? Had a really bad block or something that has left me barely able to eat except smoothies and/or fruit juice and ice with some food but not a normal diet. Finally got over that to have this which was 10x worse.can you eat savory smoothies with avocado and tomato juice and cucumber and parsleyand lemon or lime and salt and some jalapeno if you tolerate the latter and yogurt, if youdo dairy? For iron, what about making some cold borscht - beet soup wMah dill and yogurt as well. I sent that blackened cajun liver recipe last week - so if you are not repulsed by liveryou can give that a try, too. Mara Thanks for any ideas on avoiding iron supplements, etc. Maybe give bison a try but not even sure I want to try that because it's so dry (at least when I cook it <g>). Guest guest
Debbie Levaquin is one of the antibiotics that can really impact the body. Levaquin and Ciprofloxacin are in the same family of antibiotics; both can be challenging to take, and are often prescribed for digestive and kidney conditions, among other things. You can expect a set-back in your digestive symptoms during the course of antibiotics and afterwards. Switch to easy-to-digest foods for a month or two or three, since it will take a while to regain lost ground. Push the probiotics if you are tolerating them, just time the dose of probiotics to be at least two hours after an antibiotic dose. Levaquin has sent me to the ER from a severe allergic response, so has Ciprofloxacin. This family of antibiotics is bad news for me. Be aware that C. Diff. can be a problem after systemic antibiotics such as Levquin and Ciprofloxacin and Flagyl, and some other antibiotics. Be alert for excessive diarrhea and mucuous. Kim M.
