Guest guest
Tracie, thanks for explaining the process that you have been undergoing. As usual, you expressed it well. As we have said before, every body is different--reacts to disease & disorder differently, and responds to drugs & other treatments differently. We all have to learn as much as we can about the various options & then choose our path. We need to have doctors & other health care providers who are willing to be open to alternative treatments & supportive of our choices. In a perfect world, we would all have such providers. But since it's not a perfect world, we'll have to do the best we can in trying to find that support. We are not recommending that all of you stop your meds & go with a totally wholistic lifestyle. Tracie has been through just about everything a sarc patient can, and it would not be right for us to withhold this information about a program that has worked very well for her. This program requires total commitment, and I'm not ready myself to make that commitment. But I am now aware of this option & probably will explore & learn more about it. This is what we need to do with ALL of our options. It's very difficult when we are tired, depressed, in pain & can't think straight. It's so much easier to just leave the decisions to our doctors. But since we have to live with the outcomes, we really need to learn as much as we can about every treatment, including alternative treatment options. We may need an advocate to help us--a friend or family member who is willing to take on that responsibility. Final decisions should still be ours, but an advocate can help to gather the information needed for those decisions. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Standard Process Whole Food Supplements and Herbs are not another "fad." This company was started in 1929-- and is the oldest Whole Food Supplement Company in existence. We don't hear about it much, the providers of these supplements have to go through extensive training in Nutrition, Whole Food Supplements, Muscle Testing for sensitivities to food, enviromental toxins, heavy metals, pesticides, and so SO much more. Each "module of training" requires a minimum of 100 hrs of classroom time. Advanced levels require more time at each level. NO ONE is started on the supplements until you sit down with the Clinician, and a health history is taken. That history and Q & A is entered into a program where Standard Process evaluates it, and a "protocol" is suggested. The Clinician will test your muscle reaction to the various supplements, to make sure that the supplement will be effective for you. They may find that it will work on one body organ or site, but weaken another. So with that info, the Clinician can tweak YOUR supplements to what you need. They may have to do the Standard Process Liver Detox prior to starting on a protocol to address (for example) your lung issues. This Detox includes protein shakes that include the vitamins, nutrients, minerals and enyzmes that you need to help your liver clean itself out. The diet that you eat is one of raw veges the first week, steamed or baked veges the 2nd week (along with your shakes) and the 3rd week, you add back in lean meats. You stop all the grains, pastas, rice, potatoes, simple carbs, sugars, fruit, sodas, caffeine and alcholol during the detox. You'll find you don't want them back in your diet-- they are a HUGE trigger of inflammation. This program has saved my life. Since the 27th or March 2010-- I've lost 58 lbs, and the only medication I'm taking is Enalapril for blood pressure, and Levothyroid. My Effexor, my methotrexate, the plaquenil, the Remicade, the prednisone -- are gone, and no longer needed. My diabetes is gone-- no more insulin and glucophage. Thirty years of chronic pain from a back injury is at a 2-3/10 instead of the constant 8-12/10. The bone, lymph, and systemic joint pain is also decreased to a 2-3. The oramorph is gone. Don't need it. I still have fatigue- so I do have to listen to my body and if I'm tired-- I spend a day resting. I still have sarcoidosis-- but I am improving my cardio strength, my lung capacity -- the sarc induced arthritis and body pain-- like I said, have gotten so much better. My feet and ankles still have the granulomas and osteo-arthritis-- but they are NORMAL size-- unlike this last summer where my legs from my knees down to my toes where all one size-- and that size didn't fit my flesh. ** **It took until the end of July before my legs and feet came back to normal size-- and for about 8 wks, it was as if I had a chemical burn (which I did --pharmaceutical chemicals) that went from mid-calf to my toes. The skin was bright red and hot to touch, and very painful. It was swollen 3x it's normal size. Through the use of a addl supplements, and Epsom Salt Baths (and ice plunges)-- my skin decided one day to slough off all that burnt, injured flesh, and the end result has only mild edema if I spend the day on my feet, and my legs haven't looked this good since I was in my 20's! ** As far as the switch from touting the benefits of Humira, Remicade, Imuran, Prednisone, etc-- I have to say that what I know now is that they have their place. It may have to be the path some or most of the group decides to travel. That's ok. For me, I cannot recommend it without a lot of concerns. Many more than I had when I started researching these particular meds. Will I tell someone in ACUTE flare that they shouldn't use or accept steroid treatment "NO." ACUTE needs IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION. It also is going to cause the body pain, the extreme pain and fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes. So please- wean off, when you get to a place where you're backsliding-- your doc should be having you go back up to the last level that worked, and stay there for awhile, then slowly attempt the wean off again. The medications that I was on had become what was killing me. Literally killing me- I had gotten to a place where I was having heart attacks nightly, and I seriously doubt that I'd be here now-- if I hadn't made the changes I made. Diet, changing my diet to more veges, lean meat-- and eliminating the carbs and empty calories- along with rebuilding my bodies ability to use my immunity to combat disease--instead of healthy tissue-- via these supplements-- is working for me. It isn't a fad, it isn't snake oil, no ones going to call you, market you, or put you on the spam list from hell-- and they don't claim to CURE any disease. These supplements bring your body bak to balance (homeostasis) and the closer you get--- the better you feel. Guest guest
Tracie did a great job at explaining Standard Process, they are one of the top companies in the business. They're is so much more then she could ever get into or need to in this board. I will make the offer again to my Brothers and Sister's on this board. I have been carrying Standard Process for over 20 years. If there is anyone who is on or get's these products. I would be glad to get them the products they're taking at cost. This could save you a small fortune. I would give them to you for exactly what I get them for and shipping etc. this could save you as much as 50% depending on how much your Doc marks up the price. Let me know if I can help with that or anything else. Mitch STANDARD PROCESS To: mamadogrose@...; nsmods oK, LET ME SEE IF i can clear this up. Guest guest
, several months ago Tracie began a program of nutrition & supplements because she could no longer take the Remicade; she was more than maxed out on the dosage & was beginning to suffer severe side effects after several years. She can explain it better than I can, so here is her story. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine.
