Guest guest
Maybe get in touch with your OS and see if you could take anything to help break up the congestion? Do you have a humidifier at home? I wish I had better suggestions for you, I'm still a lowly pre-opper. Hope you feel better soon ! This will all pass shortly. > Ok, the good feeling of yesterday has passed. Guest guest
Hi , Remember that day 3 is generally THE worst day, especially because the swelling peaks on that day. I was given over-the-counter Otrivin for decongestion, but be careful not to take it more than 3 days straight as it will then have the reverse effect (and may be damaging). I think the best thing is to hang in there - you're going through the worst point, but it'll all of a sudden get better around day 4 or 5. Your OS may give you some reassurance about this if you give him/her a call. I called him around 3am that night and was nicely told to just hang in there and that it was all normal. Keep pushing yourself to drink liquids. You should ask your OS about the congestion and see if he/she can help with that. Ice always feels good against the swelling. Guest guest
, First of all congrats on making it to the other side. I haven't had a chance to congrat you since your surgery as I've been travelling. As for the congestion, my surgeon said that he will be giving me a nasal spray to use post surgery to help relieve some of the congestion. Perhaps you could ask your surgeon for this as well, if you haven't already.Something else my surgeon told me about that could help me with my breathing if I found it unbearable was a straw like contraption that you can stick in your mouth and that serves like a pathway for the oxygen to get into you. So while sounding like the Darth Vader from Star Wars it helps make your breathing easier. Hope this helps and keep your chin up! The congestion will get better eventually although I'm sure right now it feels like it never will. Think of it as a bad cold that is bound to pass eventually. Guest guest
, My Surgeon had me alternate between Afrin and Flonase in order to keep my body from having the affect that Yann is talking about. You can ask if there are things you can use in tandem like that. Take it easy ... one hour at a time! Carol > > Ok, the good feeling of yesterday has passed.
