Hernia repair and TT

Hi Everyone. This Tuesday, the 18th, (1 day shy of my 47th birthday) I will

be having a huge hernia repaired along with a TT. I'm so looking forward to

not looking as though I am 9 months pregnant! Just for the record I started

off at 268 back in January of 02. Then had a revision in May 03. It was 2

hernias and a transection due to major SLD. Now I am down to 133 lbs. Half of

me!

For some reason I never believed I'd have this kind of success. For the

past 8 weeks I have been stuck at the same weight. That's okay though because

the only real exercise I can do is walking. I have a very bad back and pain is

a major issue.

My question is what kind of recovery time am I looking at? Is someone going

to have to look after me for a few days or will I be okay? How soon can I

realistically go back to work? What about driving? Truthfully I never really

got the chance to ask the doctors any of these questions. I was too preoccupied

with insurance questions. How soon will I be able to start exercising? Am I

going to be stapled again?

They also said this will be done as an outpatient for 23 hours. Is this

normal? I want to come home ASAP. I'd rather be in my own bed even though Good

Shepherd Hospital took very good care of me last time. Is treadmill time just

as important as it was for the RNY surgeries to prevent blood clots?

Sorry for so many questions. You all have been great and everyone is an

inspiration to me! Thank you!

Hugs,

Cheri
