Guest guest
Yes, the bacteria digest the sugar (sucrose) just like the lactose in the milk that gets digested during fermentation. It's perfectly SCD-legal. fi > > > > New to the diet, we are trying to make the yogurt. We bought the yogourmet freeze dried starter, but it contains sucrose on the label. We bought the yogourmet freeze dried starter, but it contains sucrose on the label. Is that o.k. to use in SCD homemade yogurt? If you have the Yogourmet starter with acidophilus, bulgaricus, and thermophilus, that's fine. The tiny bit of sucrose is to help keep the culture alive before you use it, and to get it started when you begin fermenting. It is used up on our long fermentation by the good bacteria. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Mara-I found the Erivan at our WF--so we're getting it today. Kim M.--thanks for the input, I have decided to not give him my yogurt. Another one of our SCD listers, Kim B, wrote to me and she gives her PANDAS kids yogurt made from a strep free probiotic from Custom Probiotics. Additionally, she said she spoke with one of the Artisanal farmers who said that she can take the Erivan and continue to ferment it in her dehydrator for 24 hrs in the same container. She did that and had no gut issues. Thanks for all your input. Terry
