Rice bags for Steve

Hi Steve,

If you want to make one, I posted the directions a few weeks ago on

this group. You just sew fabric and fill it with rice, like a bean

bag. They last for years, I have some I use every night, there

great and hold heat for hours. I actually use two, one on each side

of my head, it helps my jaw and helped cradle my head so I wouldn't

roll over and hurt my jaw the first few weeks. I always have cold

feet so I sometimes use a 3rd bag on my feet, nothing like being

sandbagged down in bed, I love it. Let me know if you need to know

more, if you don't feel like sewing, maybe someone will want to try

making you one. They will probably want their own. Hope this helps,

Sherri

If you're sewing challenged (I am) you can also use a clean sock,

and one of those clippie things, or even staple it shut, or,

presumably, use some sort of tape that won't self-destruct in the

microwave.

If you know someone who's feeling helpful and has a sewing machine,

the sock should make it really easy. It might even be possible to

buy a pair of knee-high pantyhose and tie a knot in the top... I

don't know -- what happens to those polyester things in the

microwave?

You could also put whatever herb(s) smell nice to you in with the

rice. Lavendar is traditionally soothing, but anything that triggers

nice memories would work, I'd think. there are also fancy ones for

sale -- a dear friend gave me a lovely one.

You can also use seeds or beans of various types -- buckwheat,

barley, etc., etc., etc. husks, hulls. I'd bet that Martha

has her favorites for sale on line. And that others do, too.

Or visit your local pharmacy and get a heat/cold pack. They're less

than $20. here...
