Guest guest
Glad to hear you've gotten good correction for the plagio. I don't know much about ears, but from what I know most people do see some correction. Let us know what CIRS says. -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > Quick update: > > We took Alyssa into Hanger today to check on her progress. She has improved from 15mm cranial vault asymmetry about 3 months ago to now only 7mm. They are not recommending another helmet - although they would let us get one if we want to. They estimate she has another 2-3 weeks in this helmet. We also know that our insurance will not cover another helmet. > > I am still not happy with her ears - there is quite a lot of asymmetry still - but I am not sure how much a new helmet will help. :-/ > > I am going in to talk to CIRS in Palo Alto about the possibility of getting her a STARband - so it will be interesting to see what they think. > > We are also trying the CST with both Alyssa and (who also has 7mm CV asymmetry but no ear asymmetry) with a chiropractor. >
Guest guest
I asked this question before getting my son banded from all 3 companies, cranial tech, orthoamerica(starband), and hanger. Hanger and Ortho basically said the ears are along for the ride. CT was the only one that said they work on correcting the cranial base (I think that is what it is called) which is where the ears are attached. We ended up going with CT and have seen some improvement with our sons ears. I'm really not sure what they do differently or if their claims are actually true. I do know they have some research papers to back it up though. I've also been told if there is only ear assymetry and no plagio that they don't recommend banding. I would think she would grow out of it, at least to the point where it is not so noticeable. None of us are perfectly symmetrical. I wish you the best.Amy Spear
Guest guest
Hi, We just had our first CST today, and the therapist worked on my son's ears asymmetry. She showed me how hes ears were not alined, and after some head massage and bone movement his ears looked symmetrical. However our problem is brachy, so the ears are just a bonus. What I am trying to say is if you haven't try CST you should, it worked on Andrey's ears. Gergana and Andrey(14 months, brachy, Hanger helmet) > > > > Quick update: > > > > We took Alyssa into Hanger today to check on her progress. Guest guest
Thanks - I wish we could go to Cranial Tech but living in the SF Bay Area it is just too far. I'll update tomorrow with what CIRS say. :-) > > I asked this question before getting my son banded from all 3 companies, cranial tech, orthoamerica(starband), and hanger.
