I had my 3 week post op check up today. I am happy to report that my

OS says that all is healing well. It looks like I am still on track

to have my wires removed the week of June 1st. He did tighten my

wires today which I can say was terribly unpleasant at best. Imagine

the pain from a braces adjustment, and then multiply that times 100.

And that was after taking a Motrin 800 because I knew he was going

to do this today. My teeth don't really hurt, but there is

definitely more pressure on my joints! I hope that they adjust to

this new tightness quickly because it is really uncomfortable.

I still have numbness in my chin and my lower lip, but it does seem

to be getting better. There is definitely something going on because

there is a lot of pins and needles and shooting pains. I have no

trouble drinking from a glass, so I am happy about that.

As for pain, I usually just take a Motrin 800 before I go to bed at

night, but I can get through the day without anything. That is of

course, unless I talk too much. Unfortunately, as I start to feel

better I start talking more, which then make my jaw hurt. If I have

one day where I do a lot of talking, then I definitely make an

effort to not talk too much the next day.

I am still not drinking thicker foods, but I am getting closer as

the swelling in my cheeks continues to go down.

I just wanted to let everyon know where I stood at 3 weeks.

Hopefully this gives you some idea of what you might expect.
