Guest guest
It's illegal and I believe the reason is that up to 2% of additional sugars are allowed to be added in the processing. This is why there are a lot of processed products that are illegal even if their labels appear legal, such as canned tomatoes. You could write the manufacturer about this, but until then, it is illegal without written evidence otherwise. PJ > > Hi. I know there is some issue with juice from concentrate on the SCD and so I have always stuck to grape juices. I am visiting my parents and they have some apple juice which is pure and the only ingredient listed is pure apple juice but it does say 'from concentrate' on the carton. Is this illegal and can someone please explain why. > > Thanks, > > Mike > SCD 2 years > UC 8 years >
Guest guest
It's illegal because using the concentrated form of the juice is a way to concentratesugars. In other words, the syrup is sweet out of proportion to the original product, asopposed to cider, etc.For instance, my nieces drink Kedem regular grape juice all the time (SCD illegal)which is pure grape juice made with juice concentrates. When they tastedthe Kedem organic, which is legal, they made faces and said it tasted like wine,i.e., unsweetened.MaraHi.
