Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just made my second batch of homemade yogurt using a glass mason jar and a waterbath in the Salton 1 qt. yogurt maker. To make the first batch, I used probiotic capsules that I opened (L. Acidoph, S. Therm, and L. Burg combo) with a total of 12 billion living organisms. It came out thick and creamy and was delicious after dripping. For my second batch, I used the Yogourmet Yogurt Starter (one 5 gram packet) but the result was much runnier and much less thick. It's more like a yogurt drink consistency. I prefer how the first batch came out. What are your typical results when you use the Yogourmet starter? I purchased it from Amazon.com and I'm wondering if maybe it was sitting in a hot warehouse or truck, and that affected the potency? Or is always runny? Or did I use too much probiotic for the first batch? Any thoughts?
