Guest guest
it's exciting to know your pre-op is coming to a close! i remember getting my hooks on like it was just yesterday...it took my ortho forever just a note, during the surgery they may " move " the hooks around a bit to get them where they have to go. i was so numb and swollen for the first two weeks - i didn't even realize...but as things started coming back to life i found that one of them was really digging into my cheek. when the ortho saw it, she promptly moved it out of the way - and it felt great. moral of the story is...don't be afraid to ask them to move the hooks around after surgery. i kinda thought things were where they had to be...but it doesn't have to hurt that much ) good luck! -becky
Guest guest
Thanks, Becky, that's good to know. I think I need to remember to be assertive where pain is concerned. My first 11 days in braces were so very painful, and my ortho and doctor didn't believe me and wouldn't give me anything for pain. A month later the pain had gone but my teeth started moving FAST. They were STRAIGHT in less than two months. My dentist said, " No wonder you were in pain! " Although I'm happy now that my teeth moved fast, at the time it was pretty traumatic. Lesson learned: If you're really in pain, don't take NO for an answer. Demand relief, whether it be meds or moving a wire or whatever.
