Guest guest
My 3 year old and 19 month old are both doing the intro stage. We are on day 2 and my oldest started vomiting this morning after breakfast. Based on everything I've read I know this is a good thing. My question is, does this mean we need to continue the intro until the vomiting stops? I was hoping we could start introducing the homemade applesauce tomorrow on day 3 b/c I'm concerned about constipation. Also, he's been eating a lot of eggs as part of the intro (which he's always enjoyed and eaten) would the vomiting be a result of an egg allergy? I'm assuming not and that the vomiting is a result of toxins leaving his body but wanted to throw it out there. Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated! Guest guest
In general one should not stay on intro more than a few days, but now it's more like helping the child with an upset stomach, not just " intro " . The vomiting could be from anything, even a stomach virus. Do what you would normally do when a child is vomiting. The first consideration is to keep them hydrated- so liquids are important here. I would get some legal grape juice and make home made popsicles. Start with clear broth, diluted grape juice, legal grape or honey-lemon (very dilute) legal gelatin. Once he takes liquids I would go on to easy to digest food- like a little legal applesauce, baked chicken, soft foods. Eggs may be harder to digest at this point- not because he is allergic, but perhaps because he has an upset stomach, but you could try a soft boiled egg (avoid fried). Since you have been on intro, after this, you can slowly advance to stage one foods as tolerated. Since kids tend to get stomach bugs on occasion, you may have to go to this from time to time anyway. Stay SCD legal, and then you can advance to more legal foods. Even kids on SCD get the same childhood stomach aches from time to time like any other child. Approach this like you would any child with a tummy ache. Of course if he gets a fever and/or the vomiting persists, don't assume it's die off and check with your doctor. Hope he feels better, PJ > > My 3 year old and 19 month old are both doing the intro stage. We are on day 2 and my oldest started vomiting this morning after breakfast.
