After chronic large, gooey, mushy, and generally loose stools our three year old

started having formed healthy stools for about six weeks on the SCD diet. We

were up to stage two veggies plus almond and walnut bread and waffles and two

cups of SCD yogurt/day, and then suddenly the loose stools returned although not

as large and not as wet as before. We are now trying to get back to where we

were by returning to stage one and intro foods. Three weeks have passed and we

haven't seen any formed stools and we believe we should be adding more foods

from stage two and three for nutrition and variety sake. We are now freezing the

SCD yogurt because we thought that the live cultures in the yogurt might be

causing the loose stools. We have gone back to almond butter instead of nut

flour.

How do we get back to the healthy stools? How much yogurt is appropriate for a

three year old to eat?

Thea first year on SCD tends to be cyclic,up and down. The limit is 3 cups of

yogurt a day, so two is probably fine. If he was having formed stools before on

it, it's probably OK.

I would just stay on legal foods, and go on to what you were doing. Is he well

otherwise? Nut butters are just as nutritional as nut flours. I would hold off

on advanced foods. Fruits and veggies can be cooked well, peeled and deseaded.

You can puree them as well.

Perhaps the parents on pecanbread.com can add to this.
