Check out how one little comment from someone here changed my eating habits of

29 years:

You know what is funny, is I never ate veggies hardly in my diet. I hated

veggies for the most part. Maybe canned green beans and corn at dinner once a

week..but nothing raw. I started to eat more veggies when one day..there was a

discussion about a mother asking how to approach her overweight 11 or so year

old daughter. A reply caught my eye that I will never forget and set a

lightbulb off. One of the things of several points the replyer said was to have

healthy snacks in the home. Cut up veggies and have them handy. OMG I was

like HUH? So I thought to myself..well I already say...don't keep junk around

cause you'll eat it (and I will eat it...I learned..I will never be crave free

of junk..but I don't buy it..so I won't eat it), let's try another thing to

alter my behaviour..let me try to force myself to keep raw veggies handy. Let

me take the time after I come home from the grocery store ...to cut them up.

Sure enough...BAM..worked for me anyway. I do notice if I do not cut up my

lettuce for salads, my celery, my carrots....I will tend to put off eating the

veggies that day. Maybe it's just the lazy in me is why. I notice the easier I

make stuff out to be even go so far as to putting them in cheapest sandwich bags

I can find, the more likely I will be good.

The same thing happened to me over protein shakes. I had been a member for

quite awhile and yah yah I heard the whole protein shake speel...but I just

wasn't ready to practice it. Well I got sick one too many times and

said..enough of this crap..I'm gonna try it. But it was the constant

reinforcment from people that changed me in my time of need and I wanted what

they had..not what I had which was misery. Now, please, get me to do my

exercise..someone say something! That is one area I am just being stubborn.

I just read somewhere that sometimes ppl do not post/email reply to this stuff

because they don't feel they can add much....I just wanted to convey that to

this group that even if you have something " small " to say...or what you feel is

small, say it anyway. You never know who you touched with your email about your

experiences and what works for you and when their lightbulb will go on. I bet

that lady has no clue that she changed my eating patterns probably for the rest

of my life by those two sentences. She's on or was on one of these lists..I

forget what one.
