Guest guest
Hey Yes this is just a temporary phase in our life and IT WILL get better. I promise. I've just come back from another long weekend in Tuscany. Alessandro, his sister and her boyfriend and I spent the whole weekend painting, cleaning and moving furniture and I am beat! Obviously I wasn't allowed to move very much because everyone is terrified that my jaw will just drop off my face (it's hilarious really, the things that come to people's minds!) but I'm impressed by how much I did despite being only 6 weeks post-op. I'm also eating a lot more. I managed to eat a sausage last nite cut up into very small pieces so that I wouldn't have to chew it. And Alessandro's mother has been cooking up delicious pasta recipes for me every nite. Yummy! I fear the weight I lost will start to come back on if I don't exericise soon. Mind you, squatting on your legs for hours while you paint the bottom of a wall does a number on your muscles! But it's just so satisfying to see all the apartments on the vineyard coming together. I am looking forward to relaxing there when it's all done and over with finally! I sent an update pic of my bite to my OS and he said things are looking good. I still wear my elastics only at night and every day i feel that I am getting more and more accustomed to the feel of my new bite and the shape of my palet in its new position. I asked my OS about exericise and he said to stick to light exercise such as walks and simple yoga movements for now and if I went swimming to make sure no water got into my mouth or nose. To be honest I don't think I would have the energy to do heavy exercise at the moment. The elastics are really not that bad . I don't think anyone at work will even notice them and I find that now that my jaw is in the right position I even mind the braces less than before. Everything just seems improved now so the pesky braces are bearable. On Thursday while I was on the train going down to Florence from Milan a family of 4 sat in front of me all eating big fat sandwhiches. I eyed the sandwhiches longingly but it was nice to know that some day soon I'll actually be able to bite into one properly!! Keep me posted on how you are doing. I get the results of my biopsy today. Keep your fingers crossed for me. It's mad being in Italy at the moment. We are constantly on terror/bomb alert after the London bombings and now that there has been a second terrorist attack in Turkey it looks like Alessandro and I will have to cancel our holiday there. Oh well. I still have a good bite:-) Sara
