Guest guest
I'm really not sure if this is what your talking about , but if its more toward the back of his head and shaped sort of like a V , then its the suture lines. I noticed what I thought was a "dent" in my sons head one day, then realized it was just the suture lines ,they come merge to a V shape there in the back. It could be that you just did not notice befor, or due to some growth. I would ask the ortho if you are unsure. le 7 mos From: wee_nessie <wee_nessie@...>Subject: Indentation where flat spot was?Plagiocephaly Date: Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 4:30 PM Hi all - I tried doing a search but didn't really know how to word it. My son (8 months) has been in a Boston Band for a little over 3 weeks for brachy. He's made some improvement, going from 96% to 93% at his adjustment a week ago. I just noticed this morning that his flat spot now feels a little more like a dent if that makes sense. Is this normal? I figure its probably from the back of his head growing out, but wanted to check with those of you who have been through this. The flat spot/dent is right at the top middle back of his head and the foam there is cut out to allow for growth. Any experience with this? Thanks all! Guest guest
Thanks All - I'm pretty sure its from the growth, but I'll check with the ortho. I think its that the back of his head is finally popping out but its happening a little bit unevenly leaving a bit of a straight ridge at the top. It'll probably fill in as he grows. Thanks again! > > > From: wee_nessie <wee_nessie@...> > Subject: Indentation where flat spot was? > Plagiocephaly > Date: Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 4:30 PM > > > Â > > > > Hi all - I tried doing a search but didn't really know how to word it. Guest guest
Yes, it is normal for spots to get concave where the skull plates meet while growing. I was unsettled by this to say the least. Asked around and questioned both our ortho and surgeon multiple times. Elly's skull was concave on two occasions throughout the banding process in what I thought was a pretty severe way. Each time they assured me it's completely normal and they were right. It did round out by the time she was done. Call your ortho/doctor with any concerns, but I believe what your describing is the same thing.
