Bite Change before surgery

I was wondering if anybody's bite changed drastically before surgery.

I did not have an open bite before, but now I do. I think it's because

of the night guard I've been using because of my teeth grinding. I'm

not sure if this is only a temporary bite change or a permanent one.

Should I just proceed with surgery and let the surgeon fix it?
