As far as french fries I get the cascadian Farms fries and then bake them in the oven - not so greasy. I get them at the HFS. You can also boil real potatoes till soften somewhat and then cut them, season them and bake them (again no frying). I bake my chicken nuggets - Also I have much succeess making waffles in a waffle maker than pancakes. in New York (LJs mom) ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
As far as healthy goes-just think simple meat, veggies and potatoes. Meat is gfcf as long as it is not breaded or have anthing added to it. All veggies and fruits {fresh} are gfcf and very healthy. Now all you are really left to sub is grains. For pancake and waffles mixes-Kinnikinnick is the best I have ever had-light and fluffy-no grainy texture at all. Pre made breads-again it is kinnikinnick hands down. You can experiment with different flours besides rice to find a texture you like. And always blend several flours together when you sub cup for cup of wheat flour. I have many recipes if you need somthing specific just let me know and I can post. F newbie > Hi all. I am newbie to the 100% GFCF for 4 weeks so > far (seems like forever already). Guest guest
, How wonderful you have done! You know, I swear breaking under 200 lbs is THE hardest plateau. It was my worst one until I got closer to my goal weight. Keep doing good stuff and you'll keep going down I bet. My last plateau getting below my goal weight was 6 months...the one prior breaking 200 took me over 2 months to get through. Sherra Newbie > Hi, I can post now! Guest guest
I loved your list . Many of your points are commonly shared triumphs for wls grads, as you note. I can tell you that the seatbelt issue, preop, literally turned me into a criminal! Oh yes, it's true. Here's what happened: I was flying down to Florida on xxx airline, which I used regularly on flights to Florida to visit a relative. And of course, I needed the dreaded extension belt. What I dreaded specifically was having to ASK for the extension belt. This time, on a very very full flight, I signalled for the attendant to get a belt. Very loudly she said " Oh you need an extension (annoyed expression). I will give it to you after the safety instructions. (vague disgust) " Apparently, they didn't have a spare and they needed the extension for their little demonstration. When she screamed this out, (it seemed to me) everyone within a 5 row radius turned to see what freak needed this extension. We were in flight for several minutes by the time she thought to bring me the extension, and at that point I was rather " exercised " -- in other words, crapping my pants (not literally, but awefully close!). I am not a happy flier. This was an extremely stressful experience. The 3 bloody marys I had soon thereafter helped a little. As to the crime: I was SO angry and frustrated (at myself more than anything), that I took that friggin' seatbelt extension with me in my bag when I " deplaned. " Secreted it in my handbag. Stole it. I absolutely refused to take another flight where I had to go through this ordeal. So on subsequent flights on this same airline, I had my own personal seatbelt extension and I didn't have to rely on anyone else's forbearance to get it either. Never had a problem bringing it through baggage check, but this was all before 9/11. Had my surgery 11/05/01, lost 200+ #. so seatbelt extensions are no longer an issue when I fly. I very much enjoyed throwing that thing away. But the point we share that had the most personal significance to me, and brought me such joy, was the day I was able to put my wedding ring on my finger after not being able to wear it for almost 20 years. It was a very big deal to me. The biggest. Congratulations to you, and continued happiness! Guest guest
Hehe I was so scared to ask for an extension that I just hid my coat over my waist so they could not see that I was not buckled. I know that wasn't safe but I also feared embarrassment. Sherra Re: Newbie > I loved your list . Many of your points are commonly shared triumphs > for wls grads, as you note. Guest guest
OMG Sherra, I did the same thing I don't know how many times. I have to fly for business a lot and I got to be an expert at hiding the fact that my seat belt wasn't buckled. I would pray every time we went down the runway because I knew if there was any problems I was a goner because I did not have a seat belt on. Its terrible what shame and embarrassment do to you. Thank goodness now I can put the belt on and have to tighten up the slack. Sigh... Guest guest
Hi Everyone. Here is my story: I am a 21 years old female, and I am in the process of getting surgery soon (hopefully next month). I have an open bite and I posted some pictures of myself so you could see (under Cozmia). I was supposed to get surgery last summer but things didn't work out because my HMO was being stupid. But finally things are settled and I am ready! I am very anxious to get this done...but I just saw my oral surgeon yesterday and he told me that we might do a " simpler " surgery which will loosen up my top teeth to make it easier for the orthodontist to move things around...I was confused by this, but I will get some answers next time I see one of them. Has anyone had this type of surgery? He said that I won't be staying at the hospital, I'll leave the same day I get it. But anyway, I just wanted to share with everyone and I enjoy this site and the support that everyone gives. Sincerely, Norma
