Guest guest
Hi Sorry it's taken me so long to write back, i find myself so busy these days that it can be hard to find time to post. I'm glad your dental cleaning wasn't too painful for you, we've definitely all been through enough!! I bet the blood on your teeth was just from the gums being cleaned, and that it goes away as soon as your gums are a little healthier. Its been awhile since you posted though, so hopefully that has happened by now! Keep me posted on how things are going recovery-wise. It's hard to face sometimes that's it's been like 4 months and things still aren't in tip top shape eh? I hate that i still have to be sooo careful with what i eat! I went to see my surgeon on friday, and he was really nice. I felt like he was taking my concerns seriously, which was really important to me. I had an x-ray taken to make sure everything looked ok on there, and it did. Right now he has advised me to just stretch my jaw really gently, and that if, in a few months, things are still painful, i should then consider going to a physiotherapist to help me. I was really worried that my pain was from some kind of screw issue, or improper healing (yes, my imagination runs away with me sometimes!!), but he explained that because the bite is different it can be really hard for all the ligaments involved in the joint to get used to the additional stress placed on them. Sooooo, hopefully now that i'm being a little more gentle with my stretches the pain will start to subside. The bad thing is that the top arch wire on my braces poke me at the very back whenever i chew, and i just can't get wax on there, so even if my joint pain goes away, chewing is still going to hurt!! oh well, such is life. I'm going to the UK for 4 months in july, so I'm hoping to convince my OD to just take off the back brackets of my braces so that there's no poking while i'm over there for so long! Anyhow, this post is probably long enough Take care -
