Guest guest
Hi , I think sometimes the OS doesn't know if they'll do this or that until they actually work with surgical model. My surgeon said a month ago I wouldn't have a splint, but we'll see what he says when I see him on 22nd (day before surgery). They did say I will be banded and he does want me to try to talk. This should be interesting with both jaws, tongue, etc moved & muscles tightened up!! Doubt that I'll sound like me! Probably more like gibberish! I asked them if they were going to move the midline - last I heard he wasn't sure. But I hope they do the bottom especially is off now by 5mm. I've got a bunch of questions for the OS. Just want to be prepared for after surgery. I went shopping today and found some soy ice cream (vanilla only) & yogurt - so will see what I can conjure up with it. With the lactose intolerance ( & lactaid milk doesn't work for me) I'm trying to figure other ways to get protein, etc. I'm not a big fan of soy, but am trying to stomach it. I've got rice milk, too. Stocking up on soups I can blenderize (such as split pea), and think will try blenderizing scrambled eggs & sausage. I tried strawberries, silk tofu and banana yesterday. It wasn't too bad once I added more sugar. But some of this is so thick not sure I can drink enough for nourishment. I bought some Glucerna today to try in recipes as it has less sugar. What gets me is you can't just get one can to try, you have to buy the 4 pk of everything. We'll get the fresh fruit and vegetables when I get home. The peaches are in season right now, so I may get some and freeze them. I figure some blenderized carrots with butter (actually Benecol) and salt should hit the spot one night. But then I think if I can't taste it real well due numbness it might taste like mush. Well, we're getting down to the nitty gritty here. Hope to have everything ready by Monday.
