You will read all kind of stories on the message board everyone is diferent in their healing. The first week will want and need to sleep a lot. I feel that the most important thing is that she gets enough to eat and drink. I made all kinds of homemade soup (lots of Veggies) before my surgery and blended it to a thin soup. I was very hungry the first week. may not feel like eating but it is so very important that she eats and drinks. Do you know if she will be wired shut? I am wired shut, I have adjusted very well to this, some people don't. I eat and drink everything from a syringe. If she is wired she will need to wear a wire cutters around her neck, just in case! She should be just fine going to the conference, she will get tired but as long as she takes it easy and really works at getting enough to eat and drink she'll be fine. I think the problem that will come in here, is what she will eat while she is there. I drink a lot of Ensure, and veggie drinks from the healthfood store while I'm out. Just a few things for you to think about. Michele
