My labs are all pretty good, so I was just wondering about > >these cravings. Does anyone have any ideas? > ------------------------------------------- Is your doc your bariatric surgeon? My experience is that they know practically NOTHING about nutrition. While it's true we need more protein than " normies, " it's just plain nuts not to eat some other stuff as well. Esp fat. Since we malabsorb fat, we need to eat enuf of it to keep healthy. And dry skin would definitely be an indication to me that I'm deficient in fat. There is good fat and bad fat. Eat things that are high is essential fatty acids (omega 3's and omega 6's). Salmon, and other cold-water fish, nuts, olive oil, ground flaxseed meal, etc. You don't need to eat saturated fat to get the fats that will keep you healthy and your skin soft. As for the salt cravings, it can be an indication you're deficient in one of the minerals, potassium maybe? (Vitalady can answer this one; I always forget).
