Guest guest
I don't own a scale, but I weighed myself at my grandmothers house a couple days pre-op at 122 lbs, and then I just weighed myself today at her house and I weigh 115. So 7 lbs in 15 days, I don't think that's too bad. I hope I don't lose too much more, but I think my weightloss will be much less now that actually have an appetite. Try not to worry so much about the weight loss (or lack thereof:-)). I'm sure all those protein drinks will come in handy to your healing bones. Guest guest
I am 20 days post op and I've only lost 5 pounds. I don't seem to eat anything compared to what I use to eat, but evidently it's enough to keep the weight on. My Dr. told me that she didn't want me to lose more than 10 pounds anyway. I thought I would lose more than I have. -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " lbruaw " <lbruaw@y...> wrote: > Hi, I was wondering what evrryone lost after jaw surgery. Guest guest
Hi Ted...Weight Loss can be one of the symptoms of PF....loss of appetite....energy required to actually chew & eat becomes too fatiguing etc. One suggestion for you is to get a good brand of Vegetable Juice ('s V8 Vege Juice here in Australia) with low salt/sugar & NO preservatives... one glass should be equal to 3 serves of Veg. Add to that some good quality Protein Powder & High Concentrate Fibre Powder (to help your intestines to keep in good shape) Adding the Fibre Concentrate replaces all the fibre you'd be getting if you were eating your veges in a cooked or raw form. For Protein ...Whey Powder is derived from milk & is excellent!..Put the Protein Powder in the bottom of your glass, add some High Concentrate Fibre Powder as well (Benefice in Australia) Both the Whey Powder & the Fibre mix really well with the Vege Juice & taste just fine! You could even warm it all up if it was cold weather! Good Luck, in Oz >> Hi Gang, > I'm embarassed to bring up this topic when so many of you are struggling to lose weight. I have the opposite problem...the pounds are dropping off. I'm 5'11" amd before IBF my normal weight was between 180 - 190. I'm now at 150....twenty pounds down since November. Scans and blood work have ruled out bad stuff like cancer, etc. Don't have the appetite I used to have, so I'm eating smaller meals more often supplemented with Ensure. I attend a fibrosis support group at Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. The leader suggesed Megace, a prescription used by those with anorexia, aids, etc. She said it stimulates the appetite but my pulmonologist says the side effect of blood clots is too danegrous. I'm wondering if anyone in this group has this problem and if they've any suggestions.> Peace,> Ted, 78, IL, IPF/UIP March 09P>
Guest guest
Hi all, I started on SCD a month ago since I was diagnosed with mastocytic enterocolitis at the beginning of the year. I realize that I started way too soon with the nut flour items. Back to protein, veggies, grape jello. It just doesn't satisfy me. I react to eggs so those are out for now. I also react to dairy. Today I had a banana avocado smoothie. I do have a lot less bloating, but have lost more weight. I am now 10 pounds underweight which worries me. Any suggestions? Thanks, June
Guest guest
I just bought some ghee. Hopefully I won't react to it like I do dairy. Guest guest
There is often weight loss at the beginning but this tends to get better. Once you can eat the nut butters and add more healthy fats+ carbs, this should improve. > > > > > I do have a lot less bloating, but have lost more weight.
